OPTICAL SCALES IN BRIEF
An optical scale is a type of linear encoder which essentially consists of a graduated bar with measurement notches marked with a very high level of accuracy at precise and defined intervals. During its operation, a special optical reader scrolls along the line and records the number of notches it has passed; with this data, and with a simple calculation carried out automatically, it is possible to obtain the exact measurement of the displacement carried out, for example to verify the length of a manufactured piece.
Fratelli Rotondi designs and manufactures glass and steel optical scales for installation on any kind of automatic system.
