OPTICAL MEASURING SYSTEMS IN BRIEF
Optical measuring systems are contactless industrial metrology equipment, meaning the measurement of the piece – and consequently the calculation and digitization of its geometry – take place without physical probe contact. Each measurement is in fact taken by optical Computerized Vision technologies which detect all necessary edges and points, with the support of powerful calculation software.
Fratelli Rotondi designs and manufactures optical measurement systems for all industrial level non-contact metrological applications.
THE IMPORTANCE OF OPTICAL MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS
THE ADVANTAGES OF OPTICAL MEASURING SYSTEMS
- The speed in carrying out the measurement, without any loss of accuracy of the data;
- The possibility of exploiting Computerized Vision technologies to perform zoom measurements, guaranteeing very high precision even on very small pieces;
- The possibility of carrying out measurement even with an imprecise positioning of the components;
- The ability to simultaneously measure several pieces in the area, with the obvious consequences on costs and working times.
COLLABORATIVE OPTICAL MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS
A particularly important application of optical systems is that of collaborative measurement systems. These are devices in which the optical system is mounted either on 3D measuring machines or on robotic arms: in both cases the sequence and extent of the movements of the system can be programmed so as to allow its operation in direct proximity and full cooperation with human operators, without any type of security risk.
HANDHELD OPTICAL MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS
HandHeld 3D scanner are portable optical systems able to scan an object keeping the instrument in one hand. Light and versatile can be used for aquisition of small and big objects using adhesive markers or magnetic ones. This is a valid alternative to optical system, less accurate but faster with a lower price.
