KREON MEASURING ARMS
Fratelli Rotondi is an official distributor of KREON measuring arms, portable CMM systems designed to carry out dimensional inspection, probing and 3D scanning directly on the component being measured.
Being able to take the instrument to the part, rather than moving the part to the metrology room every time, makes a measuring arm particularly suitable for shop-floor inspection, checking large components, assemblies and any situation in which a conventional measuring machine is not the most practical solution.
Fratelli Rotondi combines the KREON range with its own industrial metrology expertise to identify, together with the customer, the configuration best suited to the type of inspection required.

KREON ONYX AND ACE MEASURING ARMS
The KREON range includes measuring arms designed for different performance levels and industrial applications.
KREON Onyx is the highest-accuracy solution in the range. It is available in 6- and 7-axis versions and with different measuring volumes, from 2 to 5 metres. The 6-axis version is particularly suited to probing applications requiring high accuracy, while the 7-axis version provides the freedom of movement that is especially useful during 3D scanning. Onyx can be paired with KREON Skyline scanners to create a complete contact and non-contact acquisition system.
KREON Ace and Ace+ likewise offer 6- and 7-axis configurations and a range of sizes suited to very different components. Their lightweight construction and the ability to set up the system quickly close to the point of use make them particularly suitable when mobility and ease of operation are essential requirements.
All KREON measuring arms are validated in accordance with ISO 10360-12, the standard specifically covering the performance of articulated coordinate measuring machines.
Choosing between models, sizes and numbers of axes therefore does not depend simply on the size of the part: the required accuracy, the types of geometry to be inspected, whether the arm will mainly be used for probing or scanning, surface accessibility and the conditions in which measurements will be made all need to be considered.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT MEASURING ARM FOR THE APPLICATION
A measuring arm with performance beyond what is actually required can represent an unnecessary investment; equally, a system chosen solely on the basis of measuring volume may not be suitable for the required tolerances or inspection methods. This is why Fratelli Rotondi always starts from the real-world application of the technology, supporting the customer throughout the selection and purchasing process and continuing after installation with maintenance and periodic calibration.
Our technicians can examine the parts to be inspected, the required tolerances and the environment in which the system will be used to identify the most suitable KREON arm and configuration. When scanning needs to become part of the process, we can also work together to select the scanner and software needed to acquire, analyse and correctly use the 3D data.
In the Fratelli Rotondi demo room, it is also possible to carry out tests on components and directly assess the possibilities offered by different measuring technologies. This enables customers to evaluate the system based on their own parts and actual requirements, rather than solely on the data in a technical datasheet.
